Dulux Colour of The Year

It's that time of the year again, just before all the design shows begin, when Dulux announce their colour of the year, and this year its a pale, soft, mint green called Tranquil Dawn. Easy to live with and a great partner to lots of other colours. Here I've shown a few examples of ways to use it and pieces from other companies that tap into the minty trend

So here it is and doesn't it look calming? on a wall as a focal point behind a sofa and teamed with a mushroom coloured sofa, grey pouffes and a walnut chair for texture www.dulux.co.uk

Another lounge but this time its been used on the ceiling, which looks fantastic, and unexpected. It is enhanced by a barely-there pink shade on the main wall and flanked by a taupe shade on the left hand wall. Rounded furniture like this sofa is a big trend coming through www.dulux.co.uk

It works well in a snug where its been used on facing walls with an ivory colour facing with a touch of blush. The colour is then built on with the mattress-style seating and cushions www.dulux.co.uk

Its a really sophisticated choice for a kitchen too, neutral but with subtle colour. Cream and white works perfectly with it with a hint of natural wood www.dulux.co.uk

Or how about in a bedroom? Again used on facing walls with a deep grey on the back wall and ceiling - they are so clever those Dulux people - who would have thought of that? And the charcoal bed is a stroke of genius. And again the blush pink is added in the bedding www.dulux.co.uk

This String shelving system against a similar colour to Tranquil Dawn shows how well it complements oak, rattan and lots of houseplants www.stringfurniture.com
